Whatever the size, shape or condition of your lawn or garden, Scott's Landscaping will inspire you with fresh, creative ideas. We can help you create a yard that will enhance your home. Scott's Landscaping will work with you to solve problem areas and design an outdoor environment that is right for you. Each project is approached with the individual client in mind, meeting their particular needs, wishes, and environmental and spatial conditions.

There are three main ways to put in a lawn, however, no matter which method is chosen, it is imperative for the homeowner to water deeply while the lawn is establishing itself. This is key to developing a deep root system for a lawn that is green and lush for years.

Seed and Hay

Seed and hay involves spreading fertilizer, grass seed, and shredded hay, as mulch, on top. This is the standard method of seeding lawns providing it’s done in the spring—or better yet, in autumn. September is the ideal month to seed a new lawn.

Hydroseeding

This one-step process mixes the fertilizer, seed, and paper mulch into slurry, which is blown by machine onto the area to be seeded. This is the preferred method of seeding a lawn, especially for large lawns, but can be used in smaller projects down to 10,000 square feet as well. Like seeding and haying, this process is best done in the spring or autumn. At Scott’s, we own and operate our own hydroseeding equipment. We are hydroseeding all spring and fall.

Sod

Sod lawns are essentially immediate gratification. Leave for the day, come home, and there is a lush lawn already in-place. It is generally used for smaller areas, since it is the most expensive way to install a lawn. Sod is also used when the optimal seeding time has passed—like mid-summer.
